Restructuring
On September 24, 2008, Vedanta Resources plc (“Vedanta”), the parent company of Sterlite Industries (India) Limited, issued a press release to announce that it will not proceed with the proposed restructuring of the Vedanta group’s corporate structure in view of recent changes in the global financial markets and investor feedback. A copy of Vedanta’s press release dated September 24, 2008 is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 and is incorporated herein by reference.
