Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.
 
On October 18, 2010, the Board of Directors of The Southern Company elected a new member, Dr. Steven R. Specker, effective October 18, 2010.  Dr. Specker was President and Chief Executive Officer of the Electric Power Research Institute until his retirement in September 2010.  Dr. Specker also was named as a member of the Nuclear/Operations Committee and the Governance Committee.
