Item 5.02.           Departure of Directors or Principal Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Principal Officers

(b) On February 28, 2006, James A. Beer joined Symantec Corporation (the “Company”) as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Stephen C. Markowski, who served as the Company’s acting Chief Financial Officer until February 28, 2006, will continue in his current position as Vice President of Finance and Chief Accounting Officer of the Company.
