Marc Whitehead & Associates Announces 2024 Scholarships Winners

The Flora Marie Jenkins Memorial Disability Scholarship and the Frances & Earl Perry Memorial Veterans Scholarship support students in need of financial aid.

HOUSTON, TX / ACCESSWIRE / September 10, 2024 / In early 2024, Marc Whitehead & Associates put out application requests for two scholarships: the Flora Marie Jenkins Memorial Disability Scholarship and the Frances & Earl Perry Memorial Veterans Scholarship. Now, the firm proudly celebrates the achievements of its scholarship recipients, Abigail Poulin and Gabrielle "Bella" Villarin.

Abigail Poulin stands to receive $5,000 through the Flora Marie Jenkins Memorial Disability Scholarship. Poulin's moving scholarship essay depicts a life lived alongside a cerebral palsy diagnosis. However, Poulin's condition does not define her.

Poulin's cerebral palsy limits her ability to walk and puts her at risk for additional injuries. While taking steps to wear braces and improve her mobility, Poulin has also forged connections with her local church and worked as a receptionist with Delray Medical Center.

Poulin's scholarship essay relays all of the hard work she's put into keeping up - and surpassing - her classmates. She's recently graduated with both her high school diploma and Associate of Arts degree. She started her first year at the University of Southern Florida this fall.

Bella Villarin and her family's exceptional history of service to the United States inspired Marc Whitehead & Associates to award her the firm's $5,000 Frances & Earl Perry Memorial Veterans Scholarship. Villarin's grandfather and father both served as naval officers, with her father overcoming the navy's restrictions on Filipino officers to achieve the rank of Navy Commander.

Villarin cites her father's ability to break the glass ceiling as a source of inspiration for her own achievements. While growing up as a "military brat," Villarin made a considerable name for herself. Since the start of her high school career, she's written over 300 articles for The Coronado Times and served as President of the Days for Girls Club.

Her list of awards received includes the 2023 Coronado Distinguished Citizen Award, Woman Impact of the Year, and the Younger Leader Award. She also represented San Diego in the 2023 PURE Insurance Championship at Pebble Beach. This year, Bella started her freshman year at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

Both of these exceptional young women more than deserve the financial awards given to them ahead of this academic year. Marc Whitehead & Associates applauds their achievements and looks forward to watching both girls further their already numerous achievements in the years to come.
