Celanese Corporation (NYSE: CE), a global hybrid chemical company, today announced that Mark C. Rohr has been nominated for election to the Celanese board of directors. The election will be held at the company’s annual meeting of shareholders on April 26, 2007.
Rohr has been president and chief executive officer of Albemarle Corporation, a company that produces polymer additives, fine chemicals and catalysts, since October 2002. Rohr served as president and chief operating officer of Albemarle from January 2000 through September 2002. Previously, Rohr served as executive vice president—operations of Albemarle from March 1999 through December 1999. Before joining Albemarle, Rohr served as senior vice president, specialty chemicals of Occidental Chemical Corporation. Rohr has over 20 years of experience in the chemical industry, including assignments at Cain Chemical, Corpus Christi Chemical Company and Dow Chemical. Rohr currently serves on the board of directors of the American Chemistry Council and ACC Finance and Political Activities Committees. He also serves on the Science Advisory Board of Mississippi State University.
