Northwest Independent School District Taps Aventa Learning’s Online Curriculum for New Accelerated High School

A new, accelerated high school that is opening this August as part of the Northwest Independent School District (ISD) in Texas has selected high quality courses and curriculum from Aventa Learning™ for the online component of its new hybrid learning program.

James M. Steele Accelerated High School, based in Roanoke, Texas, will offer students a variety of ways to learn, including web-based instruction using Aventa’s extensive catalog of online courses, traditional classrooms and dual credit opportunities through a partner community college.

“It was important that the online curriculum we offered as part of Steele Accelerated High School was academically rigorous,” said Damon Edwards, executive director of secondary education. “The Aventa Learning online curriculum met all of our requirements and will give our students both the tools and the flexibility they need to keep pace with the school’s accelerated schedules, during or outside of the school day.”

“Offering high school students a blended learning environment of traditional classroom instruction and rich online coursework is a powerful way to truly meet the individual needs of every student,” said Gregg Levin, Vice President of School Solutions, Aventa Learning. “We applaud the efforts of education innovators like Northwest Independent School District who are bringing online learning into their schools, and are excited to help the motivated students of Steele Accelerated High School achieve their academic goals with challenging online classes.”

According to Northwest ISD, James M. Steele Accelerated High School was designed to meet the individual needs of students who may want to accelerate their graduation plans by earning high school credits at a faster pace. As a non-traditional high school, students will focus solely on academics, as no extracurricular activities will be offered.
