Be Found Marketing Predicts Google Performance for Limo Services

PR Log - Aug 11, 2011 - August 11, 2011 - Be Found Marketing, a Google Places and Organic SEO company, recently did a research study of call statistics for limousine company web sites ranking on Google’s first page of search results. Based on these findings, performance predictions can now be made about the effects of top Google rankings for limo service companies.

Be Found Marketing manages the optimization of than 100 limousine websites in the United States. Clients who have hit the first page of Google for the major limousine keywords have frequently tripled their bookings as a direct result of their high rankings on Google. In order to measure the impact of these online campaigns, incoming customer calls from the web sites were tracked in each area.

Because the data sampling of the calls was so high, Be Found Marketing began comparing the number of calls to city populations in which a limousine website was ranking in Google’s top 3 results. The preliminary results have yielded an average ratio of 3500 to 1, meaning that out of every 3500 people in a metropolitan area, 1 person will call a limo companies in the top 3 results of Google every month. “We know that we need to measure more factors and larger data sets, but we are beginning to be able to predict, with some accuracy, the number of calls that a top Google listing can generate for a limo company” said Be Found Marketing’s spokesman and Director of Local SEO, Scott Welkinson. When discussing the industry as a whole he stated, “Limo operators need a Google strategy more than most businesses because Google represents the lion’s share of their potential market.” He also mentioned that more factors such as variable designs to enhance call and reservation conversion are also being measured in an ongoing analysis of limo and car service web marketing.

Limo service companies are unlike most service businesses in that their dependence on advertising mediums is higher than other types of businesses. For example, no one goes window shopping for a limousine. Business is nearly always done over the phone where all arrangements are made and limousine details provided. In this way, limousines, their locations, and companies are not visible to the public.

Compounding the problem, transportation companies typically don’t have the visual benefit of having a highly visible brick and mortar location. Most limo transportation businesses operate from industrial lots that offer low cost parking and storage facilities. Few, if any of these buildings offer much traffic visibility, nor are high traffic locations sought after by transportation companies. A large portion of business is generated by tourists and business visitors in need of transportation, and local customers usually search for limousine web sites that offer a selection of photos as well as a list of vehicles in the fleet, instant reservation options, and instant phone connection via smart phones.

Traditionally, the yellow pages delivered the main connection to the public for the limousine industry; however, the dominant medium has shifted in recent years to internet online search. Google in today's market represents the most popular method that anyone searches for a limo company. With over 50% of all internet connections now being represented by mobile smart phone customers, Google access is present everywhere, instantly.

Currently, Be Found Marketing records over 2000 phone calls a month made to limo transportation companies from web sites ranked in Google’s top 3 Places positions. From these tracked calls, every element of the inquiry was tracked including each caller ID, the length of the call, and the exact time the call was received. Also, each ranking on Google’s Place page was recorded to determine variances in call counts between the top map rankings (Google Places). Ultimately, enough cannot be mentioned about tracking web page design factors as they relate to converting clicks to customers. Future case studies will focus on site design factors and their effect on conversion so that the “clicks to calls” ratio will improve with better limo site designs. On the topic of future studies, Scott Welkinson added, “Because we manage so many limousine sites, our next goal is to determine conversion factors for various site designs and try to find those elements that enhance conversion. It’s one thing to get a click and another to get a customer.”
