PR Log - Apr 23, 2012 - All of Shannon MacDonald's songs have proven themselves powerful but none as much as ‘I Wanna Be Alone’ - the story set to music that speaks of a Hollywood-style lesbian romance that went terribly wrong. As scandal, controversy, and tabloid headlines get stirred up with everyone from police to paparazzi, the young woman, who is left broken-hearted by the death of her lover, pleads to be left alone. The song has been embraced by the LGBT community for its openness.
Speaking about her music, Shannon says, "My inbox has been overwhelmed with emails from around the world from women that are happy to hear music that does not hide behind the pronoun situation that lets a song fall where ever it may in the ‘relationship status.’ My song ‘Stay Dynamite’ (which is about falling in love with my partner Jennifer) does not stray from my world and the life I know, either. ‘Candy, Oh, Candy’ is another song that is very forward about a women who is in love with another women. My album RED PYRAMIDS and BLUE SKY stays true to my lifestyle. But most important, the songs I write all stay true to the love of my music…and in today's songwriting world - one shouldn't have to worry about who or what you are writing about."
Video production for ‘I Wanna Be Alone’ will begin in May and will be financed through an upcoming fundraising campaign on Kickstarter.com. Segments for the video will be filmed in New York, New Jersey, Chicago and Liverpool (UK). Casting will take place for the live and short film video in the very near future.
