PRLog - Aug 02, 2013 - MIAMI -- The Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists today announced that it has launched a members’ chapter in New England to be led by some of the most respected professionals in the field.

The chapter is helmed by Jason Glass, Vice President of Client Services at HAYSTACK Information Discovery (“HAYSTACKID”), in Boston, and a veteran e-discovery professional. Mr. Glass, who previously headed business development for a global content and document management association, is joined by:

Betsy Daly: Director of Global Information Risk Management & eDiscovery for Manulife Financial.  Ms. Daly manages the in-house eDiscovery team, which supports the Legal, Compliance, and Investigative Services groups globally for Manulife.  Manulife Financial is a leading Canada-based financial services group with principal operations in Asia, Canada and the United States, and a global workforce of almost 28,000.

Ellen Giblin: Privacy Counsel for the Ashcroft Law Firm. Ms. Giblin is internationally known for her work in privacy, security, risk management, cyber and data breach, data protection, cyber security, and information management at the Ashcroft Group in Boston. Prior to joining the Ashcroft Law Firm, she was Privacy Counsel at Littler Mendelson and worked with clients externally and internally with the Littler General Counsel, CPO and the CISO/E-Discovery Chair. Ellen began her career in Privacy and Data Security at Iron Mountain and as a Privacy Officer with RBS, Americas.

David Thomas: Shareholder at Greenberg Traurig and member of the global firm’s National eDiscovery Group.  Mr. Thomas has represented clients in a wide variety of complex matters in state and federal courts across the United States, with a particular emphasis on business and commercial disputes as well as management-side, class-action defense. He has brought cases through judge and jury trials in both state and federal court and successfully defended companies involved in nationwide collective and class action litigation in both the employment and consumer context. In addition, Mr. Thomas represents lenders, mortgage brokers, and servicers involved in financial services litigation, including claims under TILA, RESPA, and state laws governing consumer financing. Through that experience, Mr. Thomas handles and counsels clients on electronic discovery.

Richard Mathney:  Litigation Support Coordinator at Fish and Richardson.  Mr. Mathney is a litigation support veteran of 10 years who manages the day-to-day e-discovery workflow for Fish and Richardson, a national law firm practicing intellectual property law. Fish is one of the most sought-after firms for both patent prosecution and patent litigation services among Fortune 100 companies.

The chapter, which joins association branches in San Francisco, New York and London, among others, broadens the reach of ACEDS to one of the biggest and most populous legal hubs in the US. Its mission is to promote e-discovery competence and career advancement among local professionals through networking, knowledge events and certification.

“This new chapter of ACEDS will bring several advantages and benefits to New England law firms and corporations,” Jason Glass, the new chapter’s leader, explained. “The team was assembled with comprehension, expertise and advocacy in mind, and there is no doubt that this new chapter will help the blossoming e-discovery industry burgeon further in the coming years.”

“ACEDS New England has the leaders and organization to develop into one of the leading voices on e-discovery in the region and nationally,” added Robert Hilson, Executive Director of ACEDS. “We are proud of the impressive board that is pursuing this important undertaking.”

The New England chapter plans to hold its first meeting this fall.  Persons wishing to attend the event or join the chapter should contact Mr. Glass at jglass@haystackid.com.
