Advanced Technologies & Testing Laboratories, Inc., a highly innovative indoor air purification and energy efficiency company, names Terry Murray as Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
PRLog - Nov. 11, 2013 - TAMPA, Fla. -- Advanced Technologies & Testing Laboratories, Inc. (Tampa, Florida) announced today that Terry Murray has joined the company's leadership team as Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Sales & Marketing.  Mr. Murray will be reporting to Ms. Lovely Goswami, President and CEO.  Mr. Murray will be leading the commercialization of the company's innovative, indoor air purification platform, Transformair®.

"We're very pleased to have Terry joining us as we embark on the commercialization phase of Transformair," said Ms. Goswami.  "His years of experience launching disruptive technologies, particularly within infection prevention and critical contamination control environments, adds to our competitive advantage."

Transformair, the first major innovation in indoor air purification technology in more than a decade, was invented by Dr. Yogi Goswami.  Dr. Goswami, a renowned scientist and expert in solar energy, is the Director of the Clean Energy Research Center at the University of South Florida.  His interest in improving indoor air quality emerged when his son developed asthma as a child.

"We tried every air purification technology on the market, but nothing really worked to remove the airborne allergens and contaminants that exacerbated my son's asthma," commented Dr. Goswami.  "I was working on a solar energy technology to purify water at the time and I realized I could use a similar approach for purifying indoor air."

Transformair employs a process called photo-electrochemical oxidation to destroy all airborne bacteria, viruses, mold and organic compounds.  The platform is safe, using a non-hazardous light source that occurs naturally in sunlight.  The only byproducts are water vapor and trace CO2.

"I'm honored to be a part of such an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the quality of life of so many people while bringing technology jobs to the Tampa Bay region," said Mr. Murray.  "People around the world spend more than $8 billion a year attempting to resolve indoor air quality problems that, at best, only partially address the underlying problems."

The cost and suffering associated with poor indoor air quality is significant.  More than 26 million people, of which 7 million are children, have been diagnosed with asthma.  Asthma accounts for 14.2 million doctors office visits and 14.7 million missed school days each year.  In 2007, asthma cost the U.S. economy $56 billion.  Another 40 million Americans suffer from allergies, with between 40% to 50% of children now showing sensitivity to common allergens.  Allergies cost the U.S. $14.5 billion annually.

"The risks of drug-resistant, airborne pathogens is only growing," added Mr. Murray.  "MERS, SARS, Tuberculosis, and highly virulent, mutating strains of flu represent very real threats to public health and entire economies.  Most air purifiers only entrap these hazards, with many allowing dangerous, microscopic viruses to pass right through the filter.  Transformair actually destroys these pathogens.  The importance of bringing this technology into the market cannot be overstated."

Transformair is highly scalable, with applications ranging from defense, health care, residential and commercial settings.  The in-duct commercial solution delivers the additional benefit of saving 15% to 25% of electricity consumed by HVAC systems.  The electricity costs of commercial HVAC systems exceeds $82 billion a year in the U.S.

“Being part of such an innovative team is amazing.” stated Terry.  “Transformair is so unique in that it’s both a medical device and, in commercial settings, an energy efficiency device.  I know of no other technology that contributes to human health as well as the sustainability of our environment.”

Dr. Goswami’s solar energy research continues to evolve.  His lab is currently developing a revolutionary thermal energy storage solution for solar power that was recently highlighted in the Tampa Bay Times.

The company is targeting mid 2014 for the commercial release of the Transformair platform.  For more information, please visit http://attlab.com
