Gramercy Beverage Co Unveils Plans For Local Beer Delivery By Drone

Picking up where Amazon.com left off, entrepreneurial Southern California regional beer distributor plans to take to the air to speed brews to their thirsty clientele.
PRLog - Apr. 1, 2014 - LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Proprietors of specialty beverage retailers and craft beer bars in Los Angeles will soon be able to gaze skyward and see Gramercy Beverage Company’s delivery drone descending to restock supplies of the artisanally crafted brews distributed by the one-year-old Los Angeles firm.

Gramercy’s CEO Jeremy Pevar drew inspiration for the novel airborne delivery method after reading about Amazon.com calling it quits for a similar service due to regulatory and legal concerns. “When life gave Amazon.com lemons, we found a way to make lemonade,” said Pevar.

Amazon pulled the plug on the project after realizing that the massive scale required to make this project successful would place them in a vulnerable position that could easily bury the company in expensive litigation. Pevar continues: “Amazon’s pockets are deep as the Marianas trench, setting them up as a target and diverting them from their mission of selling all things to all people, all the time. Being a small company, Gramercy Beverage Co. just sells beer, so we have a lot less to lose. If we get a couple of parking tickets on the same day, we’re digging into our line of credit with the bank!”

Says Charles Parker, Chief Engineer for AutoDronz.com, “We overcame FAA’s mechanical integrity concerns and our legal team had finessed the operational logistics with local civic agencies, but Amazon’s lawyers called a halt when they took a look at the liability should something unforeseen happen while our drone is making a delivery. Their shutdown caused us to put off our IPO but Jeremy approached us about working on a smaller scale and after a couple of 6-packs of IPA, we’d hammered out an agreement and it’s all blue sky from here.”

Pevar expects the first deliveries to commence by midsummer. A control room is under construction inside the company’s warehouse in Los Angeles.

The beer entrepreneur sees this as just another step in his burgeoning enterprise’s approach to offering stellar customer service. “Our clientele isn’t spread out all that much,” relates Pevar, “but using drones will enable us to get our beer to accounts in a timely manner, one case or keg at a time.”
