Available in three different trim levels with front- or all-wheel drive, the HR-V gives drivers a crossover option that can easily fit into the budget of a young professional or a family that's just getting started. Under the hood is a 1.8L four-cylinder engine with 141 hp and 127 lb-ft of torque, with HR-V FWD CVT models earning 35 highway mpg.
As far as features are concerned, the entry-level LX trim is already well-equipped with a multi-angle rearview camera, Bluetooth connectivity, a 5-inch color LCD screen, and Honda's Magic Seat technology that makes expanding the cargo hold a breeze. Upgrading to the EX trim level brings the price up to $21,165 (MSRP) and adds on a 180-watt stereo system, a 7-inch Display Audio touchscreen, Honda LaneWatch, SMS text messaging functionality, heated front seating, and chrome accents. The top HR-V trim is the EX-L with Navi, and each of these models comes standard with satellite-linked navigation, leather-trimmed seating, satellite radio with digital traffic, a set of roof rails, and more starting at $24,590 (MSRP).
Built off of the same platform as the wildly successful 2015 Honda Fit, the HR-V aims to give drivers a choice between the subcompact Fit hatchback and the Honda CR-V crossover, and it looks as though it's succeeded at doing just that.
For drivers with a bit of patience, the 2016 HR-V SLF “Selfie Edition” is coming in the summer of 2015 and will feature multiple built-in cameras to document the life and adventures of the driver and his or her friends and family.
