Orbiter ring toss - Newton's Plaything

What really motivated Sir Isaac Newton to discover gravity?
How Sir Isaac Newton's obsession with the Orbiter ring toss game led to the discovery of gravity.

WELLESLEY, Mass. - June 2, 2016 - PRLog -- It's been 350 years since Newton saw the apple fall. At last we have the rest of the story.

Sir Isaac Newton was an English mathematician and physicist who lived from 1642-1727. The legend is that Newton discovered gravity when he saw a falling apple while thinking about the forces of nature. Now we have the rest of the story.

In this story Newton was sitting under an apple tree playing with his ring toss game Orbiter. The object of his game was to set the ring in motion, from one taller uniquely angled post in order to ring the second shorter conversely angled post. His challenge was to learn six orbiter swings, each one different with increasingly difficult swing paths. As he played, he wondered what the forces of nature are that make this game work.

The rest is history. He saw an apple fall from the tree and exclaimed GRAVITY!

So, you see, it was really Newton's obsession with Orbiter ring toss dynamics that motivated him to discover gravity and experimenting with the Orbiter that helped him to develop his laws of motion. This all leads us to this new question: Was the Orbiter inspired by Newton's Laws of Motion or were Newton's Laws of Motion inspired by the Orbiter?

Newton's laws proved that once you put the Orbiter ring in motion it won't stop until you stop it, gravity stops it or the second post stops it with a ringer.

Orbiter. So hot, it's cool.

A ringer a day keeps the game in play.

Every time an Orbiter rings, a wish for peace takes wing.

Orbiter. Celebrating justice, liberty and freedom with every swing of its ring.
