The FAA's Part 107 Proposal and its Effect on Drone Operations

By: PRLog
Commercial sUAS insurance market will soon explode as many drone operators are cleared for takeoff.
CHERRY HILL, N.J. - June 16, 2016 - PRLog -- Getting a Section 333 exemption from the FAA is currently one of the biggest hurdles when obtaining a commercial drone operating license. According to FAA.gov (as of 6/8/16), there have been 5,309 authorizations granted for companies to use drones. This is a relatively small number compared to the sheer volume of businesses of all sizes in the United States. There are many reasons for the low percentage of drone authorizations granted in the US. It is a very involved process to obtain an exemption to Section 333. There's a long waiting list and extensive paperwork requirements. In a potential proposal, entitled "Part 107," the FAA is considering granting small unmanned aircrafts the ability to operate legally.

In Part 107 of Chapter 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations, also known as the "Small UAS Rule," it is proposed that more commercial drones would be usable without a Section 333 Exemption. These UASs (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) would have to be under 55 pounds and only be in operation during daylight. The maximum speed proposed is 100mph, and the maximum altitude is 500 feet above ground level. There are many other requirements that the operating company would need to abide by in order to be in accordance with Part 107.

This is good news for Skyvuze Technologies, an insurance agency that specializes in providing coverage for drones and other unmanned aircrafts. The organization offers a selection of coverage options for both commercial and recreational use. Skyvuze Technologies' customer base is nationwide, and clients can reach out almost 24/7 to get certificates of insurance for their operations. In order to provide competitively priced and quality insurance policies, Skyvuze Technologies has access to companies like Global Aerospace, AIG, Lloyd's of London, and Berkley Aviation.

If Part 107 is approved, the company expects an influx in authorizations across the world, which would lead to more operators in need of UAS Insurance for both their drones and drone operators alike.

In addition to providing business drone insurance, Skyvuze Technologies also offers drone repairs and crash warranties. Insurance for drones is a cutting-edge industry, and interested parties are encouraged to visit www.skyvuzetech.com or call 888-706-8561.
