Retro Pop Artist Minnie Dee set to kick off the National Anthem during Gay Pride, NYC
NEW YORK - June 24, 2016 - PRLog -- Retro-Pop Artist Minnie Dee is set to kick off 2016 New York Gay Pride Parade with the National Anthem. "I am so very excited to be a part of the Gay Pride March. It's not just a once a year thing I support, it is a way of life, understanding and acceptance for all that I stand by and live my life. In the aftermath of the Orlando shooting my heart is feeling heavy, a sentiment that I share with so many. I look forward to standing together and showing the strength in unity." Watch Minnie after her performance on the Pride float and listen to her single "When The Funk Is All We Had", being played by DJ Lexi on the float.

Originally from Virginia, Minnie Dee moved to NYC at the age of 16 to become a member of the world famous Dance Theater of Harlem. After several years of touring the world as a professional ballerina, she returned to NYC to pursue acting. Within months, Minnie Dee landed a national commercial directed by Spike Lee, from which her earnings enabled her to attend college. She also landed a role in "Black and White" featuring Ben Stiller and Robert Downey Jr., which was written and directed by James Tobak.

After college, Minnie Dee caught the music bug and began performing at dozens of open mics around NYC. Following a stint as a backup singer with local band 'Mike Sandwich', she gained the confidence to writing her own songs. With the help of producer Riley McMahon at New Warsaw Studio, Minnie Dee recorded her debut Album, "Time to Shine". It is with "Time To Shine" that she released her hit single "Believe", a song that led to her first licensing deal. She was thrilled at the opportunity to share her song, with a whole new audience, while building a relationship with a wonderful brand.

Minnie is currently in the studio working on her New Album "Try Me" which she plans to release by the end of the year. Her new single "When the Funk is All We Had" will be out this summer. I look forward to sharing my new Futuristic Disco sound or what I call Hipsco. It is Disco fun dance music with a conscience. Catch Minnie Dee as she performs what will be a very moving National Anthem. Minnie Dee will also be dressed and styled by Project Runway Winner, Mondo Guerra.

Upcoming Minnie Dee appearances are Union Square Gospel Subway web series June 25th, The PEX Festival July 1st - July 4th in Darlington, Maryland, and Shawnee Riverfest V July 10th at the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort in Shawnee in Delaware, PA. Visit minniedee.com to learn more about Minnie Dee.
