EFA members will also be attending sessions throughout the conference and welcome the chance to talk with authors. Kristen Tate, EFA booth captain, says, "I personally will be attending some of the sessions on Friday afternoon and Sunday. Authors and readers should feel free to stop any of us for questions—even when we aren't at the booth."
More than 100 authors are expected to attend InD'Scribe, which was developed to celebrate the world of independent writing and publishing. The conference will feature workshops, panel discussions, book signings, and chances for authors, readers, and publishing professionals to meet and mingle. Conference attendees can attend sessions covering practical issues, such as revision, marketing, and author branding, and then enjoy luncheons, mixers, parties, and maybe a bit of cosplay at Thursday night's costume ball, which offers convention-goers the chance to pose as characters from the covers of romance novels.
"The EFA is excited to be represented at an event that celebrates the work of indie authors and the enthusiasm of their readers," Tate says. "Indie authors are a growing force in the publishing industry, and the EFA has thousands of members ready to help these authors polish their books and make their publishing dreams come true. Our booth will be staffed with fiction editors experienced in working with indie authors, and we'll be answering questions, sharing knowledge, and spreading the word about the EFA's directory of editing professionals and its job-posting service."
Founded in 1970, the EFA is a national nonprofit professional organization with approximately 2,500 members, including writers, editors, copyeditors, proofreaders, indexers, translators, and others who work in publishing, communications, and related fields. "EFA members can provide every editorial skill that is necessary throughout the publication process to provide a finished product of top quality," says Bill Keenan, EFA co-executive.
