SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Dec. 21, 2017 - PRLog -- Electric water heaters can be divided into two large categories: instantaneous and tank water heater. Externally, they look the same - "cabinets" of a square or cylindrical shape, with the temperature control knob installed on the front panel. However, tank water heaters usually larger than instantaneous water heaters. But the main difference is the way of heating the water.

INSTANTANEOUS WATER HEATER
Inside such a water heater there is a heating element - a heating coil.
Heating coil  is used as a heating element in heating system for instantaneous and tank water heaters. The element consists of a copper pipe with a heating coil of nichrome inside. The heating coil is heated by an electric current. Cold water passes through the pipe where the heating element is located, and flows out already hot. A continuous water heater does not have a storage capacity, it heats up all the water that passes through itto the desired temperature.

TANK WATER HEATER
As the name implies, the tank water heaters contain a reserve of hot water. Strictly speaking, it is nothing more than a more or less voluminous tank with a heat source and automatic system, heating or disabling heating, depending on the water temperature. Household boilers are equipped with a thick heat-shielding casing, that is why it is a kind of thermos that keeps water hot for many hours even when the power is off.

Since the power required by a instanteneous heater can not be always provided (at reasonable costs), it is often necessary to sacrifice either the capacity of the hot water flow or its temperature.

PROS AND CONS FOR EACH TYPE OF WATER HEATERS

Instantaneous water heater

+ Instant hot water
+ compact size
– requires a separate electrical cable and circuit breaker on the electrical panel
– high power consumption

Tank water heater
+ large supply of hot water
+ economy (low energy consumption)
+ installation without additional wiring
– large dimensions - accurately determine and measure the installation site
– it takes time to heat the water (the appliance must be switched on in advance)

SO WHAT NEEDS TO BE CONSIDERED WHEN SELECTING THE WATER HEATER

1. Before buying a water heater, clearly determine which device is best for you: using gas or electricity.

2. Calculate how much water will be spend, and depending on this select the capacity of the instantaneous water heater or the capacity of tank.

3. Select the place of installation of the water heater: on the wall, above the sink, under the sink. Depending on this, select the appropriate model.
