TAMPERE, Finland - Aug. 29, 2018 - PRLog -- Ficolo Ltd has purchased Cybercom's data center business in Tampere. Cybercom's data centers will be transferred to Ficolo and additionally Cybercom outsources data center operations services to Ficolo. The transaction does not impact customers or personnel.
"Growth in the Tampere region is strong and for instance the extensive Kansi-project in the city center demands state-of-the art data center services. Expanding to Tampere in addition to our planned large Helsinki data center will make us one of the key players in the industry in Finland," says Ficolo CEO Seppo Ihalainen.
Ficolo already runs one of Finland's largest colocation data centers in the Pori region. Typical Ficolo data center customers are IT service providers, operators and companies requiring space for their own servers or cloud services, as well as connectivity to global clouds. Customers can now get all key data center and cloud solutions in Tampere.
The transfer takes place on August 31st, 2018 and does not impact Cybercom's data center customers. Customer contracts will remain in place and all services will continue without interruption.

There is consolidation happening in the data center space. Particularly medium size companies need to consider whether they will continue to invest in additional capacity or divest their own data centers. Ficolo intends to continue to be an active player driving consolidation.
"In addition to large data centers, numerous local data centers are needed. The importance of the local data centers is growing, for instance as self-driving cars and outsourced industrial processes spread: they ensure that information between the car or an industrial plant and the data center moves as quickly as possible. The Tampere data center is a connectivity edge data center, located close to data users," states Ihalainen.
