NOZ Timepieces, the all new handcrafted line of watches made from natural stone and wood, is live on global crowdfunding platform Kickstarter and a breakout crowdfunding success story having already raised over a million dollars for their campaign.
Inspired by the beauty of nature in Japan, NOZ uses beautiful high-quality natural stones and wood sourced from all over the world. All these different shades and patterns have their own unique traits, making each watch truly a one of one model.
“My parents have worked as ceramic artists for more than 30 years in Japan. Their passion for crafting had a profound impact on me from early on. Hand crafted pottery is uniquely beautiful. No single piece is ever the same,” says founder Nozomi Imai on the inspiration behind the project. “Creativity is incredibly hard to find in many products these days. Everything looks the same because of bulk production. This is why we created NOZ. We wanted to develop timepieces that are truly unique.”
The face is made of high-quality natural stone which is skillfully processed into 1 mm thickness by the best craftsmen. The wooden pieces of the watch are all handmade and have been polished with the best craftsmanship, ensuring the smoothest touch and feel. The leather band is top-grain and extremely durable.
NOZ has launched with two models in various beautiful stone and wood finishes. Backers of the crowdfunding campaign will receive an exclusive engraved number edition.
NOZ is the world’s first timepiece brand whose logo also functions as a time index. Five years since the first design proposal, and 2 years since the company started working tirelessly on this, the final design was created. It features an N and Z, with each edge of the logo representing an hour on the watch face, and coming together in the center to make an eye catching and useful design.
“Our products are not just stylish fashion items, but are also created with the hope that the wearer can enjoy a happy and fulfilling life. In order to create a product that can be loved by the wearer, we don’t mass produce with automatically machines, adds Imai. “Instead, we spend the time to hand craft our watches, and by combining the grain patterns of natural wood and crystal, we were able to create entirely unique watches. The designs can be worn by both men and women, meaning that they are perfect as partner or pair watches, or watches to wear as a family.”
