Thirty-six companies will take part in the event, promoted by Carpi Fashion System and organised by Consorzio Expo Modena. The autumn/winter edition will also be staged on the digital platform.

Thirty-six companies will be taking part and, thanks to the potential of digital technology to display women’s fashion samples – clothing, knitwear, tailored garments, shirts and outerwear – buyers from around the world can browse the garments without leaving their home country. This is thanks to an online portal, which is safe for both buyers and exhibitors and that has been designed to allow the companies to show their creations, come into contact with clients and take orders.
This second staging of Moda Makers Digital comes after eight editions of the event and was set up to allow SMEs from the fashion industry to continue to display their creations to the entire world, overcoming the limitations imposed on international travel by the coronavirus pandemic.
The global situation, at the supply chain level, has not helped a sector that is in difficulty. However, the sector is doing everything possible to limit the efforts of the current crisis and continue to offer Italian quality and creativity, especially that of the Distretto di Carpi. Thanks to the fashion industry, it has become world famous.
The 36 companies – 23 from the Carpi area and 13 from other regions are: Acquamarine, Angela F, Brillante Bologna, Cocoba Fashion House, Confezioni Gigi’s, Creazioni Rosanna, Dani Confezioni, Donne da Sogno, ETC2.0, Famar, Gil, Gironacci, Idea Tessile, Il Trifoglio, Incontro, Io & Te Maglierie, Keo’, Mabal, Maglieria Paola Davoli, Maglificio Sofia, Make For, Micaela C., Mori Castello, New Terconf, Pioneer, Pour Moi, Pop Fashion Italian, Roberta Neri, Settimocielo, Sorriso, Tabula Rasa, Veronica Effe, Vezzo, Walmode, Yulkis (Eleonora Amadei) and Zanetti Moda.
In order to ensure that participating companies are provided with the highest levels of security, the organisers reserve the right to verify visitors’ credentials. This will be done to ensure that all visitors operate as legitimate wholesale buyers, fashion distributors, commercial agents or represent stores or specialised chains.
Another distinctive feature of this edition is that, once more, each company will be able to decide its degree of visibility: it will be the companies themselves to decide how many samples to show to each visitor or potential client.
The portal has also been designed to ease direct relationships between exhibiting companies and buyers. Following initial contact, buyers and producers will be able, if they wish, to interact without intermediaries. This means that prices, minimum production levels and the personalisation of samples will be a private negotiation between buyer and producer.
For the entire duration of the event, which will end in spring 2021, organising staff will be available to provide assistance to companies and clients.
Moda Makers Digital is organised by the Consorzio Expo Modena on behalf of the Carpi Fashion System and is the District’s company support project promoted by CNA, LAPAM-Confartigianato, Confindustria Emilia, Comune di Carpi and the Camera di Commercio di Modena, with the fundamental contribution of the Fondazione CR Carpi.
Vincenzo Colla, Councillor for Economic Development and the Green Economy, Work, and Training in the Emilia-Romagna region, taking part in the presentation of the edition, commented: “The Carpi fashion district is proving just how resilient it is. Last March we were able to appreciate the efforts made by these splendid companies on behalf of their communities, with the conversion of their production facilities to create personal protection equipment. The textile industry has been one of those hit hardest by the coronavirus crisis and we have to help this eco-system of companies and support the experts’ precious ‘hands-on experience’ and design talent as we look ahead to exports picking up again in 2021. Today, responding to current difficulties through the Moda Makers Digital platform, these magnificent companies are able to relaunch Made in Italy across the world. With it being impossible to organise a ‘normal’ event, the web has become an obligatory shop window for the fashion industry. It is also a huge opportunity that will forever change the way that companies approach the market. It is no coincidence that the Region has begun providing support to internationalisation projects on digital platforms and, among the priorities of the new agreement for employment and the climate, we have indicated training and new skills in order to relaunch the fashion sector sustainably. Focusing on supporting and implementing the female workforce will be important.”
Stefania Gasparini, Deputy Mayor and Councillor for the Economy of Carpi District Council, discussed the theme of support: “We cannot deny that these have been trying months for our companies and that there are still many clouds on the horizon. However, the desire to act and take all of the action necessary has always been present. During these months, even with a lockdown imposed, closures, a slowdown in orders and the impossibility to hold a normal event, our production industries have not given up; instead, as well as creating, designing and producing samples to exhibit and the new edition of Moda Makers Digital, training, the ‘Collezioni Filati’ and the conversion of part of the production to reusable masks has continued. Throughout, the Carpi Fashion System has been on the frontline. Now it is time for regional and national bodies to play a concrete part, showing their support. We would like to state this as clearly as possible: now is the time to act with all the resources available as, if business-people are putting in all of their creativity, energy and doggedness, the sector cannot survive much longer without a helping hand from the government”.
