Consistency and focus will forever be main ingredients that fuel the road to any elevated destination. “My Lane” by Shawn Berry, is a generational call to that truth. Hardship is another ingredient that will often find place on this road. He highlights that part of the process with lyrics like “Deep end swimming/ treading water”. It can be argued that he has possibly pin pointed the current position of many these days given the toll COVID has taken on our lands. At start the music almost yanks at the speakers having a heavy beat, baseline, and dirty snares everywhere.
Party voices glide across the musical plain singing, “80’s babies in the building/ Throw your hands up to the ceiling/ 90’s bred yeah put in work/ all millennium children go berserk”; a dance floor message to stay in the bag no matter what level you’re on or what year you were born because it leads to the authentic self. When pursuing highest realizations, there’s always a slight unseen sort of gravitational pull to follow the new wave or new popular thing in hopes to ensure success. When asked how do you remain focused through such enticements, he stated: “I allow myself to be inspired by all, but not driven by trends, the chance to share what I offer is exciting.”
Commonly known as the road less traveled for sure; however it has been proven to yield great fruit and provide a trajectory of growth based upon individual evolution and not a search for the next fad to adopt. Words such as unique, trendsetter, superstar, inventor, original, new, and different can all be found when describing anything that cuts through the basic script set for each pursuit in life.
