James Hornof, President of B&W Electric, LLCInsights into an ESVE for an electric or hybrid vehicle in Englewood, CO, to keep families safe.

According to industry data, electric vehicle sales make up over 10% of new car sales in Colorado, and that number is climbing every year.
As more people are making the switch to EVs, James Hornof, President of B&W Electric, LLC, says that he has seen a big uptick in requests for home charging stations.
While you can technically charge EVs with a regular home outlet, there are some serious drawbacks to not having a dedicated 240-volt charging dock installed.
James says, “Because the technology is so new, we get a lot of questions and inquiries, and it’s important that new EV owners understand all their options and best practices when it comes to charging their vehicles.”
The main issue is the length of time it takes for the vehicle to recharge. If an EV is getting regular use or the owner has longer days away from home, there may not be enough time between usage to get a full charge.
In addition, unexpected trips are a normal part of life, so it is important that the EV is reliable, charged up, and ready to go whenever it’s needed. The last thing anyone wants to be doing is trying to coordinate plans around the time it takes for their vehicle to fully charge.
EVSE (electric vehicle supply equipment) can cut the charging time in half, which also allows homeowners to take advantage of off-peak discounts from their electric company. By charging the EV during these off-peak hours, they can save on energy bills and per-mile driving costs.
When connected to an electric vehicle, an EVSE can provide many benefits, including:
• Safely managing the electrical supply to the car / turning it on or off
• Checking for any electrical problems
• Some models can schedule the charging time to only occur within certain hours
James’ team are certified Tesla and Clipper Creek installers and have undergone specialized training to install their charging systems safely and efficiently.
“There is quite a bit involved in the process, from load calculations, permitting, installation, and final inspection, ensuring that the EV charging system is installed to the highest standards.”
In some cases, an electrical upgrade may be necessary, which is no problem for the team at B&W Electric because they are full-service commercial and residential electricians.
Installing an EVSE is a great way to ensure EVs are charged safely, quickly, and cost-effectively. Not only will there be savings on energy bills and per-mile driving costs, but you will also be doing your part to reduce negative environmental impact.
James Hornof says, “As a company, we are committed to staying at the forefront of new technology and innovation. Installing EV charging systems is just one way we are helping our community step into the future as we all do our part to promote a cleaner and more sustainable tomorrow for generations to come.”
