Intevac Photonics’ DeltaNu Unveils RAPID-ID

Intevac Photonics, a division of Intevac, Inc. (Nasdaq:IVAC) announced today the availability of DeltaNu’s RAPID-ID™, an innovative tool for the plastics industry. RAPID-ID is an industrial quality instrument that supports a lean manufacturing process by reducing waste at all stages of the supply chain. The tool can quickly analyze and identify most types and grades of industrial plastics, even through transparent packages and glass containers. RAPID-ID includes a baseline reference library of characteristic spectra for common resins and compounds. Designed with an open architecture that enables each user to quickly create a library specific to their needs, RAPID-ID can be specifically tailored to each factory.

"RAPID-ID addresses the need for fast, accurate identification and verification of raw and recycled plastics in many industries such as automotive, consumer products and medical devices,” said Mike Kayat, VP and GM of DeltaNu, a business unit of Intevac Photonics. “Using this small instrument, technical and non-expert users can verify incoming materials, conduct field engineering and first pass failure analyses, and meet the ever increasing regulatory compliance requirements.”

RAPID ID, available now, was launched to coincide with NPE2009, the world’s premier plastics showcase, which runs from June 22nd through June 26th, at the McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. For more information about NPE 2009, go to http://www.npe.org.
