Zamore brings extensive legal expertise to agilon within the provider and health plan sectors
agilon health, inc. (NYSE: AGL), the trusted partner empowering physicians to transform health care in our communities, announced the appointment of Denise Zamore as the company’s first Chief Legal Officer and Secretary to the agilon health Board of Directors effective August 1, 2022. Zamore will become a member of the executive leadership team, reporting to Steve Sell, CEO, and will lead the company’s legal function.

Zamore has more than 15 years of legal experience in the healthcare industry. She joins agilon from Optum, part of UnitedHealth Group, where she served as Deputy General Counsel leading a team supporting healthcare provider partners and executives on a broad array of areas including critical strategy development, state regulation of risk-bearing entities, compliance with corporate practice of medicine, privacy and employment law. Previously, at United Healthcare, Zamore oversaw significant coordination and management of legal, regulatory and compliance matters related to all lines of health insurance business, including claims reimbursement, contract disputes, Medicare, Medicaid, member privacy and provider disputes.
Prior to joining UnitedHealth Group, Zamore completed a two-year federal clerkship and practiced complex commercial litigation at large multinational law firms. She received her J.D. from Columbia Law School and her B.A. in government from Georgetown University.
Zamore is an avid diversity, equity and inclusion proponent and is committed to community service. She serves on the boards of the Hartford Promise Scholars program, the Connecticut Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel, and American Arbitration Association Healthcare Advisory and ICDR Councils. She has received numerous awards and distinctions for her commitment to diversity, community service, and the practice of law.
