Alliant Energy’s President of Iowa utility business, Terry Kouba, announces retirement; Farlinger named successor

Alliant Energy (NASDAQ: LNT) announced today that Terry Kouba, President of Alliant Energy’s Iowa energy company, has announced his retirement from the company effective May 1, 2024. The Board of Directors has appointed Mayuri (May) Farlinger to succeed Kouba as President of Alliant Energy’s Iowa energy company, and to also serve as Vice President of Operations effective May 1, 2024.

“Terry’s 42 years of dedicated service is a testament to his passion and commitment to serving customers and communities across the state of Iowa,” said John Larsen, Executive Chairman. “His empowering leadership style, experience and focus on operational excellence has served our customers well. On behalf of the Board of Directors, we wish him all the best as he enters his well-deserved retirement.”

Farlinger joined Alliant Energy as an intern in 2004. Since then, she has taken on a series of progressively more responsible roles across the company, including positions in Finance, Audit, Regulatory, Account Management, Field Engineering, Customer Renewables, Revenue Management and Operations. Most recently, she served as Vice President of Customer and Community Engagement in Iowa.

In her role as President, Farlinger will have overall accountability for the performance of the company’s Iowa energy company, including responsibility for growing Alliant Energy’s customer base in Iowa. This includes leading the company’s economic development, community engagement and account management groups. She also will continue to direct and provide leadership for regulatory activities and initiatives supporting electric and natural gas customers in Iowa. Farlinger is also responsible for directing and implementing the day-to-day delivery of gas and electric service and working with the company’s Safety Blue Hat program across the state. She and her team maintain a customer-first mindset and focus on providing the safe, reliable and affordable service customers count on every day. She takes great pride in building meaningful relationships and partnerships that help to create innovative solutions for customers.

Farlinger serves as board member with the United Way of East Central Iowa, Indian Creek Nature Center and Corridor Women Connect. She earned her bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Iowa and her MBA at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa.
