Former Commonwealth Edison CEO Anne Pramaggiore, the only female CEO in the company’s history, who turned around a failing electric utility and turned it into one of the country’s best while cutting rates four times and reducing outages to historic lows, released the following statement today through a spokesman, Mark Herr Communications:
Statement
Counsel for Anne Pramaggiore has filed a notice of appeal today with the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois that she will seek reversal of her 2023 conviction for violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
“We will ask the Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit to reverse this verdict, because it is manifestly incorrect and ignores the thrust of recent Supreme Court caselaw protecting defendants from vague prosecutorial theories and limiting federal crimes to actual bribery,” said Paul Clement, counsel to Ms. Pramaggiore. “If Justice is to be served and those precedents are honored, this conviction should be reversed.”
Mr. Clement, the former Solicitor General for the United States of America, will represent Ms. Pramaggiore during the pendency of her appeals.
