MYDOC in Forest Hills, Queens, is revolutionising the health industry and helping to reduce pressure on hospitals and allowing patients to be much sooner.
Dr. Nabil Salib the brainchild of MYDOC which has clinics in East Meadow, Brooklyn, Bronx, Brooklyn, Jackson Heights, and Little Neck, has become an important service for patients who need medical treatment now instead of having to wait weeks, or even months to be seen.
At a time when waiting lists to see a doctor at a local hospital for medical treatment has increased, patients are now getting fed up. With the average waiting time for an appointment in the USA being around 26 days, some patients are getting frustrated with having to wait for medical treatment, X-Rays, and blood tests. It has been reported that some patients who need X-Rays and blood tests are not making appointments due to the long delays in getting seen. This is putting patients’ health at risk. Dr. Nabil Salib and MYDOC are putting patients first and helping them to get the treatment and medical services they need now, and not later.
Since being launched, MYDOC and Dr. Nabil Salib has improved health treatment and reduced waiting lists for those living and working in New York. Patients can walk off the street and visit one of the MYDOC clinics.
To learn more about MYDOC, I sat down with Dr. Nabil Salib, this is what he had to say.
Dr. Nabil Salib, you are the founder of MYDOC, can you explain what MYDOC is?
Yes, I'm the founder of MYDOC, MYDOC is a walk in 7 days/wk urgent care with the 1st of its kind GYN walk in division
Why does MYDOC stand out from other health care providers?
It’s a boutique clinic that delivers personal care, MYDOC also stands out as being the only urgent care nationwide to offer walk in GYN care
US hospitals face influx of patients and staffing shortages, which has resulted in patients not being seen quickly enough, what has happened to the US healthcare system, and why is it failing so badly?
The mistreatment of many general practitioners and nurses either by insurance companies or hospitals has led to severe shortage of physicians and nurses which has worsened the overcrowding of ER's nationwide and waiting time to obtain care.
The low reimbursements and salaries for General practitioners has chased away many of them out of the health field all together even though GP's are the ones who tend to manage all the chronic medical conditions (High blood pressure, Diabetes, low back pain...etc) and subsequently keep patients out of the hospital.
You provide an urgent care facility service for patients, so what type of services do you provide?
Treatment of all upper respiratory infections, bladder infection, Skin infections, rashes, joint pain/neck/back pain, Asthma, headaches/Migraine, laceration repair/stitches, EKG, blood work on site, Gynecologic care, Incision and drainage of abscess, IV fluids, chest pain/abdominal/pelvic pain, trauma's, x-rays, sprains/fractures, STD testing and treatment.
Would it be quicker for a patient to visit MYDOC, instead of visiting their local hospital?
Very Quick, waiting time is no more than 10 minutes and all patients are successfully triaged and discharged within 30 minutes from the time they come in.
You have previously said that MYDOC is to supplement, but not replace, the efforts of emergency rooms and primary-care physicians, so do you see your service as a positive step in reducing the waiting list and the strain that US hospital face?
Absolutely, in fact any given urgent care with capable emergency trained providers can see over 80% of any given ER volume, we only send patients to ER for confirmed heart attacks or strokes or blunt traumas or surgical patients.
The average wait time to see a Doctor in the USA is 26 days, so can you run through me how long it takes for a patient to be seen by a Doctor through MYDOC from the day they ring up one of your offices?
Our office is a walk in 7 days/week, no appointments needed, waiting time is no more than 10 minutes, this is one of major features and highlights in addition to impeccable personal and excellent care evident by all our online reviews.
So, if someone needed a blood test, or an X-Ray, would it be quicker to visit MYDOC, or to go to a local hospital?
Yes, much quicker, no more than 10 minutes waiting time.
You currently have six MYDOC’s, are there plans to expand?
Yes, I'm looking at expanding.
I was looking through all the services that you provide, and I was very impressed.
Can you see a time where you will also offer services that include MRI scans? For MRI and other imaging modalities like CT scans and ultrasounds, we have many radiology vendors that offer same day appointments for our patients given our long relationships with these vendors.
Can you explain the process of payment for your services?
We accept all health care insurances and also cash.
Since launching MYDOC, you have gained a huge amount of exposure, and continue to receive five-star reviews from your patients, so what does the future hold for MYDOC?
We hope to keep the same five-star performances and deliver excellent and compassionate medicine befitting our talents and efforts to honor our patients.
