Sihai Energy: Pioneering Innovative Ways to Recycle Waste Rubber Tires

At present, the treatment technology of waste rubber tires domestically  and abroad can be roughly divided into two categories: a. Regeneration and recycling (physical modification) , b. Normal pressure thermal pyrolysis (production of fuel oil).

The new pyrolysis equipment treatment is a promising development project, which includes most of the daily life garbage sludge, waste plastics, waste tire , waste rubber and other solid wastes with certain energy. The application of pyrolysis technology in the field of solid waste and hazardous waste treatment is becoming more and more mature. Compared with the traditional treatment methods of other wastes such as recycled rubber and rubber powder, the industrial continuous pyrolysis treatment process is an emerging technology that has gradually begun to be put into large-scale application in recent years. It can realize the resource utilization, harmlessness and reduction of waste under the premise of environmental protection.

The equipment can refine waste tires, plastics, rubber, aluminum plastics, oil sludge and other materials into fuel oil and carbon black through high-temperature pyrolysis . The production process is automated, the whole process is oxygen-free and sealed, and the slag is automatically fed and discharged, with high oil yield and environmental protection.

 

Normal pressure horizontal rotary thermal pyrolysis  technology of waste rubber tires.

This technology refers to: the waste rubber tires are passed through the thermal pyrolysis reactor in the absence of oxygen. When the temperature reaches 250-450℃, the waste rubber tire polymers are fissioned into low molecular compound gases. Fuels and chemical raw materials can be produced after condensation cooling under normal pressure. The output fuel includes pyrolysis oil and non-condensable gas (C≤5), and the output carbon black can be used as a chemical raw material. The process has the following advantages:

(1) Energy saving: The pyrolysis of waste rubber tires adopts non-peeling technology. Before thermal pyrolysis, it is not necessary to separate the rubber from other contents (steel wire and others). The waste rubber tire raw materials are directly placed in the pyrolysis reactor for cracking, thereby reducing energy consumption. In the process of pyrolysis to produce fuel oil, there are some combustible gases that cannot be liquefied under normal pressure. They can be burned at the bottom of the reaction furnace through the waste gas re-using system, so that the non-condensable combustible gases can be effectively utilized, which saves energy and eliminates the disorderly emission of harmful gases.

(2) Environmental protection: mainly the flue gas generated by the combustion system, through the spray atomization desulfurization and dust removal system, to remove the dust and sulfides such as SO2 produced by the heating pyrolysis furnace, and the dust removal rate can reach more than 95%. b Since the pyrolysis furnace is under normal pressure, it ensures that the pyrolysis gas generated during the pyrolysis process does not leak out, eliminating the potential pollution. c Wastewater: In the entire production process, only water is used in the condenser and cooler, and it plays a cooling role and can be recycled. Water seal water: Since the cracking process produces 3 tons of cracking oil, only 50 kg of wastewater is generated, which is small and easy to handle. These waste water are neutralized by adding weak alkali solution, and the neutral wastewater is filtered and harmless before being used in the atomizing desulfurization tower.

(3) Safety: a. The advanced dynamic and static sealing system is adopted to crack the raw materials in an oxygen-free state, eliminating the production of dioxins, and ensuring safe production under environmental protection. b. During the backfire process of non-condensable gas, there are three safety facilities, water seal tank, flame arrester and gas burner, which ensures the safety of waste gas backfire.

(4) High efficiency: Since the pyrolysis reactor is a 360-degree rotating structure, this unique structure can make the entire cpyrolysis reactor body evenly heated and the temperature of the entire furnace body balanced. It can not only increase the life of the pyrolysis reactor, but also increase the cracking speed of the raw materials, making the cracking speed of the raw materials far exceed the cracking speed of the fixed vertical furnace and fixed horizontal furnace currently used in China.

Combining the above characteristics, the atmospheric pressure horizontal rotary thermal cracking waste rubber treatment technology is conducive to the development of the circular economy of the rubber industry, energy conservation and emission reduction, and environmental protection. It has important strategic and practical significance.

 

The recent 50,000-ton tire processing project of Sihai Factory, in cooperation with a professional tire recycling and oil refining enterprise in Hubei, China, has been completed and put into production in March 2024. The plant covers an area of 50,000 square meters, including production workshops, storage workshops, office buildings, etc. The workshop has a total of 10 pyrolysis equipment production lines, which can process up to 150 tons of tires per day, and has now entered the normal operation stage. With 150tons of waste tires as pyrolysis raw material, the daily oil output reaches up to around 65 tons of oil, 55tons of carbon black, and 20tons of steel wire.
