Daphne AL Podiatrist Acquires New Saorsa Swift Wart Removal Machine for Plantar Warts Treatment

Coastal Foot Center, a podiatry practice in Daphne, AL, is happy to announce they have recently acquired a new Saorsa Swift microwave therapy machine that they will use for plantar warts treatment. The Swift machine makes use of microwave energy to rapidly increase the temperature of the plantar warts by causing the water molecules in the tissue to move very fast resulting in heat caused by friction between the molecules. This rapid increase in the temperature of the tissue stimulates the immune response which will then work on getting rid of the plantar warts.

Plantar warts are just like other kinds of warts except that they are found on the soles of the feet, which means pressure will frequently be exerted on them while the patient is walking, running, or doing other activities that push on the warts. This causes pain which encourages people with plantar warts to have them removed. The Saorsa Swift machine offers a convenient way of removing the warts with minimal pain or discomfort.

The Swift protocol for removing plantar warts will typically require three to four treatment sessions with each session lasting for only 5 to 10 minutes, compared to the usual one hour long session when using other methods. The sessions are spaced four weeks apart to make sure they are aligned with the body’s natural immune cycle. With regards to the pain and discomfort experienced by the patient during the treatment sessions, these will only last for a few seconds for each wart while the microwave energy is being directed at the warts. Most patients have reported that the slight pain felt like a scratch.

The Swift machine is regarded as a safe treatment because it has been approved by the FDA and it only applies a low dosage of microwave energy to the affected tissue. Furthermore, it is equipped with an applicator that allows the podiatrist to easily point the microwaves to the target tissue and avoid affecting healthy tissue. It should also be pointed out that microwaves have been applied in medicine for more than 30 years in various countries around the world, particularly for the treatment of certain types of cancer. The Swift machine is also equipped with a sensor that detects if the disposable tip of the applicator has not been replaced with a new one in which case it will not turn on. This is to avoid cross-contamination because warts are contagious. However, for some patients, they will have to inform their physician if they: are immune-suppressed; have metal plates or pins in their feet; are pregnant or breastfeeding; are wearing a pacemaker; or are suffering from poor circulation.

The efficacy of the Swift machine has been found in various studies to be higher than that of other treatment methods. In addition, there will be no inconvenient bandages or dressings afterwards because there will be no cuts on the skin, which means the patient can immediately go back to whatever they have been doing before the treatment.
