HOUSTON - April 19, 2016 - PRLog -- Their workshop titled "Overcoming Stakeholder Resistance Through Dialogue" will explore why and how building a dialogue with stakeholders can become the most valuable leadership capacity in overcoming stakeholder resistance.
One of the most common challenges project managers face is stakeholder resistance. The ability to influence others is at the heart of project management - not so much in persuading stakeholders, but by incorporating and orchestrating them in a greater project setting. Interactive exercises include: Identifying and becoming aware of your stakeholders, an active and mindful listening exercise (dialogue walk), and stakeholder interview simulation.
Dr. Thomas Juli has more than 19 years of progressive leadership and management experience in various functions including organizational development, project and program management, management consulting, professional training and academic teaching. Until recently he led a strategic organizational development program at the global automotive supplier Magna International. He runs his own consulting business (www.motivate2b.com), mentors start-ups and is a lecturer for innovation and technology management at a private research university.
He consulted for various companies in the telecommunications, banking, energy and public sectors. He is a regular speaker at international project management conferences such as the PMI Global Congress, NASA Project Management Challenge, and Project Zone. He is the author of Leadership Principles for Project Success (CRC Press, New York, 2011).
Carla Fair-Wright is a project consultant and owner of Optimal Consulting. She has an extensive background in software development, project management, and training. Carla is the chapter author of two books, "Encyclopedia of Energy Engineering and Technology" and "Case Studies and Applications of Web Based Energy Information and Control Systems." She has appeared on FOX News, PMI Podcast, Terri Craig Radio Show, Business Makers Small Business Network Show and has been featured in the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) magazine, Maintenance Technology, STEMINST, and CODE Magazine. Carla was a featured speaker at the 2014 Project Zone Congress in Frankfurt and presented at the PMI Global Congress 2015-EMEA in London. In 2014, Carla was awarded Society of Women Engineers' Emerging Leader award (Region C).
