Barclays Encore! Program Helps Professionals Re-Enter the Finance Industry

Barclays is piloting a new program in New York called Encore! to help professionals who have taken a career break re-enter the finance industry.

“Encore! helps us to look outside of non-conventional sources for talent,” says Joe Gold, Deputy CEO, Barclays Corporate & International. “This is a win-win opportunity for both Barclays and the candidate.”

Potential candidates should complete the application form on the Encore! website. Applicants will undergo an initial qualification screening by the Barclays Resourcing team, followed by interviews at 745 Seventh Avenue in July.

The ten week paid internship program for accepted candidates will begin on September 12, 2016, with an orientation and training program at the onset. Candidates will then be placed within one of the designated areas in Barclays’ Investment Bank which best suits their background, including Banking, Markets, Research, Finance, Operations and Technology.

“When professionals take time off mid-career to focus on personal responsibilities, the gaps in their resume often become a stumbling block when trying to re-enter the workforce,” adds Barbara Byrne, Vice Chairman in Banking. “We’re confident this program will help to bridge that gap for these applicants and, at the same time, source a new pool of diverse talent for the firm.”

Candidates for the program should meet the following criteria:

• Minimum one-year career break for personal responsibilities
• Minimum of five years of continuous work experience, achieving a title equivalent of VP or above in their most recent role
• Financial services experience preferred, but not required

The application deadline is June 24, 2016.
