Marquis Who's Who Honors Rajesh Raghavan for Leadership in Spacecraft Avionics Test Engineering

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / January 15, 2026 / Marquis Who's Who honors Rajesh Raghavan, senior test engineer at Moog Space and Defense, for his leadership in spacecraft avionics testing and his commitment to accuracy, safety and teamwork in the aerospace and defense industry. With more than 28 years of engineering experience, Mr. Raghavan plays an essential role in ensuring that electronic systems function as intended before space launch, where repairs are not possible.

About Rajesh Raghavan
Mr. Raghavan has served as a senior test engineer with Moog Space and Defense in Gilbert, Arizona, since 2023. In this role, he tests spacecraft avionics, which are the electronic systems that control and support satellites and space vehicles. These systems must perform flawlessly in harsh environments, so his work focuses on careful testing, clear documentation and strict procedures.

Mr. Raghavan's responsibilities combine electrical engineering, test engineering and embedded software development. He designs and builds test equipment, such as cables and harnesses. He also writes software that communicates directly with the hardware under test. He uses tools like NI LabVIEW and Python to automate tests and review results. In addition, he writes embedded software in C, including programs that run directly on hardware without an operating system. This type of software remains invisible to users but controls how the hardware functions.

Moog Space and Defense supplies avionics to major aerospace and defense companies, including Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, Northrop Grumman and L3Harris. These companies use Moog's products in spacecraft, satellites and other systems they provide to government agencies. Mr. Raghavan understands that his testing decisions affect entire missions. He takes this responsibility seriously and follows all required processes to ensure reliable results.

Before joining Moog, Mr. Raghavan built a strong technical background through roles at several respected organizations. He worked as an embedded software engineer at L3Harris Technologies and Eastman Kodak Co. He served as lead systems test engineer at Eaton and as senior software engineer at AERO Systems. His earlier experience includes work with Extreme Engineering Solutions, Mitre Corp., Booz Allen Hamilton, Lockheed Martin and the NASA Glenn Research Center through Analex Corp. Each position helped strengthen his skills in software, systems engineering and testing.

Mr. Raghavan earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was commissioned in the U.S. Air Force. Serving from 1992 to 1995 as a second lieutenant, he faced medical challenges that prevented him from serving on active duty. However, he received an honorable discharge. He later completed a Master of Science in optical sciences from the University of Arizona and a Master of Science in electrical engineering from Johns Hopkins University. His education prepared him to understand both complex electronics and advanced software systems.

Hard Work and Perseverance
Mr. Raghavan attributes his success to perseverance and hard work, believing that strong teams solve problems better than individuals working alone. When challenges arise, he encourages cooperation instead of blame. He focuses on staying calm, professional and respectful so teams can work through issues together.

Mr. Raghavan observes that global defense spending continues to increase. This growth is driving more projects in aerospace and defense and placing greater emphasis on accurate testing. He also notes that electronics evolve quickly, which requires engineers to stay current and test new technologies more carefully than ever before.

Keeping an Open Mind
Mr. Raghavan advises students interested in engineering to build solid skills in math and science. He encourages understanding basic concepts rather than relying solely on calculators or computers. On top of this, he also suggests keeping an open mind in college, as interests can shift after learning about new fields. He views engineering as a profession that prepares people to solve real-world problems.

In his personal life, Mr. Raghavan enjoys learning about international affairs, military history and philosophy. His faith remains vital to him, shaped by Hindu traditions and his interest in Catholic teachings, especially Jesuit practices. He also enjoys watching baseball, ice hockey and streaming entertainment.

Mr. Raghavan received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award for his professional achievements. He maintains memberships with the Military Officers Association of America, IEEE and the Optica. Through his continued dedication and meticulous work, he advances aerospace technology and supports the success of national defense missions.
