Optimized for SAP HANA®, SAP S/4HANA® and SAP NetWeaver®, Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP Solutions provides a common foundation for SAP and non-SAP workloads
Red Hat, Inc., the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, today announced that Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP Solutions is now available on SAP® Store, the digital marketplace for SAP offerings and complementary solutions from SAP partners. Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP Solutions is optimized for running SAP software deployments, including SAP HANA® and SAP S/4HANA®, and provides a single, more consistent foundation for both SAP and non-SAP workloads. Through the SAP Store, customers can more easily try and purchase Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP Solutions to extend their IT footprint into open hybrid cloud and container environments.
SAP HANA only runs on Linux, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP Solutions is built on the world’s leading enterprise Linux platform and thus provides a robust infrastructure for SAP workloads. The result of a long-standing collaboration between Red Hat and SAP, Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP Solutions is a consolidated, open Linux platform that spans a wide range of business intelligence and data workloads. The platform includes Red Hat Insights and Red Hat Smart Management to provide customers with proactive analytics and real-time intelligence across their SAP solution–based operating environments, providing better management, analysis and optimization of SAP software and applications wherever they may run on the open hybrid cloud.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP Solutions has received certification from SAP Integration and Certification Center (SAP ICC) for SAP S/4HANA and the SAP NetWeaver® technology platform as a High Availability solution to reduce unplanned downtime for deployments. The Red Hat Enterprise Linux High Availability Add-On, included with Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP Solutions, offers a standards-based approach for enhanced SAP application reliability in both on-premise and cloud environments. Additional features include live kernel patching and in-place upgrade capabilities for critical Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) to achieve near-zero downtime for production deployments.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP Solutions also includes Red Hat System Roles for SAP, a collection of Ansible-powered modules that enhance how IT teams deliver optimized environments for specific user needs. These roles can be used to more quickly configure systems for SAP HANA and SAP NetWeaver, either remotely or locally, automating many of the tasks that come with initial system set-up.
With support for many traditional SAP deployments ending in 2027, organizations are now faced with how to shift critical workloads to SAP S/4HANA and SAP HANA. Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP Solutions offers an enterprise-tested foundation for these migrations at scale and across IT footprints, supporting operational changes and new deployments while also helping to minimize business impact. Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP Solutions also serves as the backbone for Red Hat’s open hybrid cloud portfolio. This provides a ready pathway to adopting additional cloud-native or automation-based solutions, like Red Hat OpenShift, the industry’s leading enterprise Kubernetes platform, or Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, as IT teams seek to further optimize and scale hybrid cloud infrastructure and datacenter environments.
Red Hat is a partner in the SAP PartnerEdge® program. As such, it is empowered to build, market and sell software applications on top of market-leading technology platforms from SAP. The SAP PartnerEdge program provides the enablement tools, benefits and support to facilitate building high-quality, disruptive applications focused on specific business needs – quickly and cost-effectively.
