Thought Leadership & Innovation Foundation (TLI), a not-for-profit organization that works at the nexus of science, technology and public health, today announces a significant step in advancing Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) awareness and support by sponsoring the largest-ever National TACA Autism Conference from October 20-22, 2023, in Costa Mesa, CA, attracting over 1300 attendees.
“This remarkable event served as a lifeline for families touched by autism, providing them with direct access to renowned experts, The Autism Community in Action (TACA) mentors, sponsors, vendors and like-minded families from across the nation,” says Shawn Murphy, vice president, TLI. “Attendees delved into cutting-edge information, strategies and resources aimed at maximizing their loved one’s potential and enhancing their quality of life.”
Under TLI's sponsorship, the conference hosted a physician panel bringing together Anju Usman Singh, MD, FAAFP, ABIHM, FMAPS, Dan Rossignol, MD, FAAFP, Darin Ingels, ND and Erica Peirson, ND who addressed a range of critical topics. From dietary solutions to managing gut issues, exploring the balance between medication and dietary or homeopathic approaches, to addressing the challenges of puberty, the panel offered invaluable insights.
Additionally, TLI sponsored a think tank session which served as a hub of innovation where emerging research on seizures, intracellular ferroptosis, GABA and purine signaling networks, thiamine deficiency, chronic pain relief and the groundbreaking Autism Knowledge Gateway were showcased.
The Autism Knowledge Gateway is a dynamic resource in development. It aims to provide clinicians, parents and educators with a rich repository of peer-reviewed research, comprehensive information on available programs, and resources dedicated to supporting ASD families. A collaborative chat room within the Gateway facilitates in-depth discussions of case studies and current research among clinicians.
Marah Archer, project manager, TLI, explains, “TLI and TACA have directly impacted the autism community by bringing together nationally renowned thought leaders, such as Dr. Rossignol, to share their latest research, best practices and data-driven solutions. We are making access to this information more accessible through our online knowledgebase in order to reach and benefit a wider segment of the community.”
In the United States, ASD remains the fastest-growing serious developmental disability, affecting 1 in 36 children. Families navigating this journey often face overwhelming challenges in seeking the right resources and treatments for their children and TACA plays a critical role in educating the autism community with up-to-date insights on research, therapies and treatments.
