New daily route builds on JetBlue’s Fort Lauderdale growth and adds more choice between South Florida and Colombia
To celebrate the launch, limited one-way fares are available starting at $134 in Main and $234 in EvenMore only at jetblue.com
JetBlue (NASDAQ: JBLU) launched today its new daily nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Ernesto Cortissoz International Airport (BAQ) in Barranquilla, Colombia. The new service gives customers more choice and convenient travel options between South Florida and Colombia’s Caribbean coast.
Barranquilla joins Medellín and Cartagena in JetBlue’s Colombian network, with service to Cali (CLO) set to launch later this month. Together, the new routes will bring JetBlue’s Colombian network to four destinations and further strengthen Fort Lauderdale’s role as a key gateway connecting customers across the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean.
"We're excited to welcome Barranquilla to the JetBlue network and give customers another great option for traveling between South Florida and Colombia,” said Daniel Shurz, senior vice president, revenue, network and enterprise planning, JetBlue. “Fort Lauderdale continues to grow as an important connecting gateway for JetBlue, connecting customers from Barranquilla not only to South Florida but also to destinations across JetBlue’s broader network across the U.S and beyond. This new service builds on our long history of serving Colombia while giving customers traveling to visit family and friends, for business or leisure the competitive fares and award-winning experience they expect from JetBlue.”
"We welcome JetBlue to Barranquilla for the first time with its new service to Fort Lauderdale,” said Eduardo Verano, Governor of Atlántico. “JetBlue's decision to serve our airport is a vote of confidence in Atlántico's potential. Every new route gives families more travel options, makes it easier to do business and opens the door for more visitors to discover our destinations. We will continue to strengthen our international air connections and position Atlántico as a leading air hub in the Caribbean, bringing our region closer to the world and turning those connections into opportunities for our people.”
Located on Colombia's Caribbean coast, Barranquilla is a dynamic hub for business, culture and tourism and home to the world-renowned Carnaval de Barranquilla, one of Colombia’s most celebrated traditions. JetBlue’s new daily service gives South Florida travelers convenient access to Barranquilla and the surrounding region, creates another nonstop option for customers traveling between the U.S. and Colombia and offers convenient connections through Fort Lauderdale to destinations across JetBlue’s growing network.
Flights between Fort Lauderdale and Barranquilla will operate on JetBlue’s Airbus A320 aircraft, featuring the airline's award-winning Main experience, including free high-speed Fly-Fi®, seatback entertainment with live TV at every seat and complimentary snacks and drinks.1
