About the Author:
Barb Higgins is a lifelong teacher, coach, and athlete. A Division I All American in Track & Field at Boston University in 1983, Barb was the first female high school athlete in New Hampshire to run a sub-5 minute mile. After several years of professional running for Nike, Barb returned to New Hampshire, where she taught and coached for over thirty years. Alongside her career, she created A Thousand Tiny Steps, a podcast and blog, and founded The MollyB Foundation. When not running the foundation, Barb is a mother to four-year-old Jack and twenty-four-year-old Gracie.
Why Barb Wrote Motherland:
After the devastating loss of her daughter, Molly, Barb found herself plunged into an overwhelming darkness. But through the incredible journey of becoming pregnant with Jack, Barb felt compelled to share her story. "It was in that moment that I knew my story was ready to be told," says Barb. "Reliving and sharing the details of my experience was both cathartic and calming. I hope my story provides comfort to other mothers and women who have gone through similar experiences."
