Lorraine Rominger Celebrates Family Tradition and Rural Heritage in The Rangity Tango Kids

Author Lorraine Rominger introduces readers to a heartfelt story of family life, rural traditions, and the enduring values of small town America in her book The Rangity Tango Kids. Inspired by her upbringing on a fifth-generation family farm in Winters, California, the book honors the legacy of generations who worked the land while passing down lessons of responsibility, unity, and appreciation for a simpler way of life.

The Rangity Tango Kids reflects Rominger’s deep gratitude for the family that shaped her childhood. The story was inspired by the loss of her mother to a brain tumor and serves as a tribute to her parents and grandparents who instilled in her the values of hard work, resilience, and love for the land. Through this book, Rominger preserves the traditions of farm life and shares them with younger members of her family including her nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews who did not have the opportunity to work in the fields alongside their elders as she once did.

Set against the backdrop of rural life, the book captures the spirit of growing up on a farm where children learn responsibility at a young age and where family bonds remain strong through every challenge. It reflects the beauty of agricultural heritage, the joy found in simple living, and the importance of preserving family stories in an era where life often moves too quickly. Rominger’s work reminds readers that traditions, shared experiences, and strong family ties create a lasting legacy that can be passed from one generation to the next.

Lorraine Rominger was born in Yolo County and raised on her family’s farm just outside the agricultural town of Winters, California. Her upbringing in a supportive German Catholic farming family helped shape her lifelong connection to the land and her desire to preserve the values of rural life. After leaving the farm, Rominger built a distinguished career spanning more than two decades in music, television, and film. She worked with the legendary rock artist Prince for ten years and later served as Executive Director of the San Francisco Film and Video Arts Commission under Mayor Frank Jordan. Rominger also spent twenty years as Deputy Director of the Goldman Environmental Prize in San Francisco.

Rominger’s debut book has already received international exposure. The Rangity Tango Kids was first presented at the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany and was recently featured at the London Book Fair in England. The book will also be showcased at the Los Angeles Times Book Fair at the University of Southern California this April.

Through The Rangity Tango Kids, Lorraine Rominger shares a story that celebrates the importance of family, tradition, rural heritage, and the enduring spirit of small town America. Readers are invited to reconnect with the values of hard work, loyalty, and the simple joys of life that come from growing up surrounded by family and the land.
