Fate Tracker build memory timeline for a vibe-coded game showing build notes, claim-versus-reality file check, and verified recovery

NEW YORK, NY, September 2026 — Fate Tracker today released Fate Tracker Build Memory, a Windows 11 desktop application that keeps a build memory for game projects made with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, and the chat versions of ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.

"Build memory is a record of why your game worked, kept next to the project," the product's maker said. "Fate Tracker verifies its recovery rather than assuming it, and it takes no coding knowledge, terminal, Git, or cloud account to use."

Build memory is not an AI memory layer. AI memory services give an assistant a general memory of past chats, usually through a cloud account. Fate Tracker does something narrower and keeps it on the user's machine: it keeps a per-project record of each game build, the owner's decisions behind it, what the AI claimed to change, what actually changed on disk, and a recovery copy that has been verified to restore. Because it lives next to the project folder rather than inside a chat, it works with any AI tool.

The problem it solves

Since "vibe coding" was named in early 2025, people with no programming background have been building games by describing them to an AI. The failure that follows is a pattern reported widely across Reddit, X, and developer forums. The game works. The builder asks for one more feature. The AI rewrites something it wasn't asked to touch, and the working version is gone. The AI can't explain what it changed, because it doesn't remember the last session. The builder can't either, because nobody wrote it down.

The usual advice is to learn Git. Most vibe coders never do, and even those who do find that version control records what the files looked like, not why the game worked or what the AI was told. That gap is what build memory fills.

What Fate Tracker records

For each bounded build section, Fate Tracker keeps:

  • The owner's decisions and reasons, in their own words
  • Lessons to carry into the next AI session, ready to paste into any assistant
  • A claim-versus-reality comparison: what the AI reported changing against what changed in the files, checked with SHA-256 hashes
  • A protected snapshot of the project, restored into a separate folder and verified file by file against SHA-256 hashes
  • A build history the owner can read back as a timeline: which build, what changed, what broke, and why the workaround exists

When a later build breaks, the builder opens the memory for the last version that worked, reads the note, and pastes it into a fresh AI session. What would have been a two-hour loop of "fix it again" becomes one prompt.

"The advice everyone gives vibe coders is to learn Git," the product's maker said. "Git tells you what the files were. It doesn't tell you why the game worked, or that the AI said it changed one thing and changed three. Fate Tracker keeps that record, on your own machine, for people who are never going to open a terminal."

Engines and tools

Fate Tracker works with projects from Unity, Godot, Unreal Engine, GameMaker, Defold, and RPG Maker. It works with any AI coding tool or chatbot that accepts pasted text, for a simple reason: it hands the builder plain text to paste into whatever chat they are using. Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, or a tool that hasn't been released yet. There is no plugin to install, no server to run, and nothing that breaks when a builder switches tools mid-project.

Local by design

Fate Tracker runs entirely on the user's PC. No cloud account, no telemetry, no upload. Game assets and source never leave the machine. Recovery covers the files Fate Tracker saved; it does not claim to recover changes made outside a saved build.

Availability and pricing

Fate Tracker Build Memory is available for Windows 11 at fatetracker.com for a one-time purchase of USD $49. The license covers two PCs and includes twelve months of updates. There is no subscription. The current release is version 0.7.8; the roadmap is published at fatetracker.com.
