What Is The Market Telling Us

Himax’s shares are extremely volatile and have had 57 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.

The previous big move we wrote about was 3 days ago when the stock gained 5% on the news that Qualcomm announced a multi-generational product collaboration with Amazon Web Services to develop custom AI data center infrastructure, while ASML, TSMC, and Intel achieved key milestones in next-generation chip manufacturing. According to a Qualcomm press release, the chipmaker announced a multi-generational product collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to develop custom AI data center infrastructure. The strategic partnership focuses on co-designing successive generations of custom AI chips specifically targeted at high-performance inference and data center workloads.

Himax is up 73.2% since the beginning of the year, but at $14.78 per share, it is still trading 38.9% below its 52-week high of $24.19 from June 2026. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of Himax’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at an investment worth $1,276.
