What Happened?

Shares of electricity generation and hydrogen production company Bloom Energy (NYSE: BE) fell 8.7% in the afternoon session after Bloom Energy fell as Oracle’s force majeure notice on Project Jupiter revived concentration and financing concerns, with tech and growth names already under pressure from rising Treasury yields.

According to Bloomberg, Oracle sent a force majeure notice to a Blue Owl Capital unit developing Project Jupiter, the New Mexico AI data center campus designed to run on Bloom’s solid oxide fuel cells, seeking to defer rent if the site misses its 2028 target. Oracle and Blue Owl both said the project remains on schedule and that financial commitments are unchanged. Bloomberg also reported that roughly $18 billion of construction loans tied to the campus were already trading below 90 cents on the dollar, signaling lender stress.

Separately, the lead-plaintiff deadline arrived Monday in a securities class action over Bloom’s disclosures on Chinese-sourced scandium oxide. Those worries landed as Morningstar, citing Dow Jones, reported the 10-year Treasury yield climbing to 5.218% and technology shares leading early declines — a backdrop that tends to punish high-duration growth names tied to long-dated AI infrastructure cash flows.

What Is The Market Telling Us

Bloom Energy’s shares are extremely volatile and have had 102 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.

The previous big move we wrote about was 3 days ago when the stock gained 9.5% on the news that Treasury yields eased and crude oil prices fell amid U.S. and Iranian talks on reopening the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. stocks opened higher on Friday, with technology and industrials leading the advance, according to Industrial Info. The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow waterway between Iran and Oman and a key route for global oil shipments, so any sign it could reopen tends to push crude prices down. Lower oil prices matter for industrial companies because fuel and energy are major costs for manufacturers, airlines, freight carriers and equipment makers. Cheaper energy can ease pressure on profit margins. Falling Treasury yields, which are the interest rates the U.S. government pays to borrow, also help. They tend to reduce borrowing costs across the economy, which can support spending on factories, machinery and infrastructure, areas where industrial firms earn much of their revenue.

Separately, Industrial Info Resources reported that the U.S. heavy-manufacturing industry is scheduled to start more than $12 billion in construction projects during the fourth quarter. It said the activity is driven by battery-storage systems and space exploration. The outlook remains tied to the U.S.-Iran discussions. Any setback in the talks could reverse the drop in oil prices and weigh on the sector again.

Bloom Energy is up 169% since the beginning of the year, but at $265.44 per share, it is still trading 23.2% below its 52-week high of $345.85 from June 2026. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of Bloom Energy’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at an investment worth $14,284.
