Sipping Green was formed in response to the growing demand for alternatives to single-use plastic. As plastic straws will be banned across the UK from 2020, this year was the perfect time to look into eco-friendly alternatives. With their ethos to manufacture and distribute products that are environmentally-friendly and 100% compostable, Sipping Green has grown quickly over the last 6 months, particularly since they started trading in June 2019.
While Sipping Green’s main focus is on high-quality paper straws, the company is growing rapidly and is now looking to expand its product range to include other eco-friendly products such as paper cups. Their main aim is to satisfy the needs of their customers, no matter what size their order is with high-quality products that don’t break the bank. This is a welcome change in an industry that often demands large order requests to bring prices down.
Despite being a small company, which is run from their office and manufacturing unit in Bedford, UK, Sipping Green has already exported their British made straws outside of the UK to other countries, namely Malta, Lithuania, Kenya. Their business model is primarily to distribute to other businesses within the food industry but they also cater to other organisations like hospitals and schools. It’s clear from their immediate successes that this is exactly what their customers are looking for.
Sipping Green’s products currently include a wide range of straws, including different sizes from cocktail straws to jumbo straws. All the straws are 100% compostable and are made in the UK. Sipping Green is also the only company that offers grass straws, which are made using pulp derived from grass. These straws are extremely eco-friendly, aesthetically pleasing and look fantastic in any drink.
It’s been a really exciting 6 months for Sipping Green and it is fantastic to see the company begin to spread its wings and broaden its product offering. The company is clearly keeping its customers in mind as it grows and it will be exciting to see what they come up with next.
