From credit cards to loyalty cards, the need to carry around plastic and paper in a decreasingly important product from a generation’s past is slowly going away. While modern society has not fully done away with the need to convey a few important daily pieces— the Pixel Wallet is hoping to fill the void as the transition will inevitably be made.
“In an increasingly digital world where cash is being used less and less, we wondered what the place of the traditional wallet in our lives was. Often cumbersome and heavy, the traditional wallet that we had no longer met our needs,” says co-founder and CEO Simon Mazerolle on the inspiration behind the project. “We thought long and hard about what our true essentials were to carry on a daily base. For us, these are our keys, our phone, our wallet and our headphones. Precisely in our wallet, we realized that the majority of its content was cards and a $20 emergency bill. We asked ourselves, ‘How can we create a minimalist wallet that fits into our lifestyle and represents us entirely?’”
The answer is the Pixel Wallet which was designed to combine every basic function a wallet should have while eliminating the unnecessary. The end result is a beautiful, 100% customizable piece which is capable of carrying the same amount of cards as a traditional bi-fold wallet while measuring in at less than half the total size.
The Pixel Wallet’s secret lies in a unique mechanism that allows cards to be stored in the middle of the wallet and access them effortlessly, without compromising the minimalist aspect of the wallet. A wallet with an elastic band that will allow users to easily access their most frequently used cards and also store small items, like a key or a few bills and coins, on the sides.
“With Pixel Wallet, we wanted to create a very compact wallet that wasn’t boring. We simply didn’t understand why most companies offer a one-size-fits-all wallet that we couldn’t personalize to our taste,” adds Mazerolle.
