NortonLifeLock Supports Operation Homefront’s 11 Days of Impact Initiative

DESCRIPTION:

By Kim Allman, Head of Corporate Responsibility and Government Affairs

Today, Americans celebrate Veterans Day across the United States and take time to reflect upon the heroism of those both living and deceased who have served our country. Veterans Day dates back to 1919, when it was founded as Armistice Day, and in 1954, the name was changed to better acknowledge veterans of all armed conflicts. Those in Canada, Australia, and Great Britain celebrate this day as Remembrance Day.

NortonLifeLock supports veterans and military families. Former military members often face a difficult transition to civilian life, and we provide support for employees who have served in the armed forces or are married/related to a past or present service member. We also work to attract veterans to our NortonLifeLock team, by helping our talent acquisition staff recognize how military skills and experience translates to corporate skills.

Members of the military are often more vulnerable to identity theft because they live in shared quarters where there isn't much privacy and they're often away from home for long periods of time, marking it hard for them to monitor their financial affairs. In addition to free identity protection education for veterans and military families, we are proud to partner with Operation Homefront to provide military families with a special discount on the powerful Cyber Safety solutions they need.

We also support military families through sponsorship. In honor of Veterans Day, we’ve contributed $25,000 to Operation Homefront, a national nonprofit whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive — not simply struggle to get by — in the communities they have worked so hard to protect. For more than 15 years, Operation Homefront has provided programs that focus on: Relief, Resiliency, and Recurring Family Support. This work includes offering critical financial assistance for food, utilities, and other necessities; transitional housing and mortgage-free homes; caregiver support; holiday meals; and school supplies to veterans’ families.

To help Operation Homefront provide these vital services to veterans and their families in 2022 we are participating in the 11 Days of Impact Veterans Initiative. Started in 2020 with a goal of raising $111,000, the inaugural 11 Days of Impact raised over $172,000. This supported 70 critical financial assistance requests, provided 60 months of rent-free housing to 30 families, housed 12 families in transitional housing defraying $32,000 in mortgage costs, and provided holiday meals to nearly 12,000 military families. This year, Operation Homefront has the ambitious goal of raising $222,000!

At NortonLifeLock, we believe strong military families make our communities stronger. Our military families have earned our utmost respect and deserve our unfailing support for all that they have done to serve our nation. Operation Homefront helps tens of thousands of military families each year, and with your support, we can help even more. We encourage you to learn more about Operation Homefront’s 11 Days of Giving Initiative and donate today.
