New organization brings together two organ procurement organizations to strengthen donation, honor donors and serve more patients and families across Texas

Southwest Transplant Alliance of Dallas and Texas Organ Sharing Alliance of San Antonio announced today they are uniting as Gift of Life Alliance (GOLA), creating a single nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening organ donation across Texas.

The merger, approved by the Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services, brings together two organ procurement organizations with a shared commitment to saving lives through donation. Gift of Life Alliance will serve over 19 million Texans in 145 counties, building on the experience, relationships, and expertise of both organizations while creating new opportunities to improve collaboration with hospitals, healthcare professionals, transplant centers, donor families, and communities.

“Today is about much more than two organizations coming together,” said GOLA President and Chief Executive Officer Brad Adams. “It is about strengthening the donation system across Texas, putting patient safety and public trust at the heart of everything we do and ultimately honoring the generosity of donors and donor families whose selfless gifts make life possible.”

As Gift of Life Alliance begins operations, hospitals and other partners will continue to receive the same dedicated support from existing teams. The initial transition will be focused on continuity, with the primary visible changes being the organization’s new name and logo. The full integration of the two nonprofits will continue over the coming months.

“Every donation story begins with a donor and a family making an extraordinary decision during an incredibly difficult moment,” said GOLA Chief Strategy Officer Joe Nespral. “We have a deep responsibility to care for those families with compassion, to honor the wishes of their loved ones, and to protect the safety and dignity of every patient throughout the donation process. It is through that care and commitment that we hope to honor their generosity and continue to build trust in donation.”

GOLA will continue working closely with its hospital partners, transplant centers, and community organizations to support the donation process and raise awareness about the impact of organ donation.

“Gift of Life Alliance is carrying forward the legacies of both STA and TOSA while looking toward what is possible together,” Adams said. “We are grateful to our employees, hospital partners, transplant professionals, and community partners, but most importantly our donors and donor families who have helped bring us to this moment. We are excited about what we can accomplish together in the years ahead.”
