AMC Entertainment Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: AMC), the largest theatrical exhibitor in the United States and the world, today announced that more than 4.3 million moviegoers attended AMC Theatres in the United States and ODEON Cinemas internationally from Thursday through Sunday, led by the opening of Christopher Nolan’s THE ODYSSEY.

Moviegoers turned out across AMC’s circuit throughout opening weekend, with particularly strong attendance in IMAX at AMC, Dolby Cinema at AMC, PRIME at AMC, and XL at AMC, along with iSense, IMAX, Dolby Cinema and XL screens in Europe.

Demand remained so high that select premium format auditoriums operated continuously throughout the weekend, with showtimes extending in some AMC theatres in the U.S. for more than 85 consecutive hours. Flagship locations AMC Lincoln Square 13 in New York, AMC Metreon 16 in San Francisco, and Los Angeles market theatres AMC Burbank 16, AMC Century City 15, AMC The Grove 14, and Universal Cinema – an AMC Theatre all operated around the clock Thursday morning through Sunday night.

With a media-reported domestic opening weekend of approximately $124 million, THE ODYSSEY becomes the second film title in the past five weeks to have a domestic opening weekend gross considerably above $100 million, and the eighth film since late March to open above $75 million domestically, continuing an impressive stretch for the theatrical exhibition industry.

THE ODYSSEY also enjoyed the best opening weekend box office performance across the AMC U.S. circuit for any R-Rated title since 2024.

Both critics and moviegoers have high praise for Christopher Nolan’s THE ODYSSEY, with Rotten Tomatoes scores for the movie of 95% from critics and 97% from audiences.

Adam Aron, Chairman and CEO of AMC Entertainment, commented:

“For the past several days, THE ODYSSEY has been at the center of the pop culture conversation across both the United States and Europe, once again demonstrating how deeply movie theatres are woven into the fabric of society. THE ODYSSEY is an absolute triumph of a film that demands to be experienced on the biggest screens with the best sound and most comfortable seats. We congratulate Universal Pictures, Christopher Nolan and everyone involved in bringing this remarkable epic to audiences. We also thank the millions of moviegoers choosing AMC Theatres and ODEON Cinemas this weekend, who helped make THE ODYSSEY’s opening such a tremendous and resounding success.”

Showtime and ticket information for THE ODYSSEY and all titles playing at AMC are available online at amctheatres.com and on the AMC Theatres app in the U.S., and on ODEON’s country-by-country sites and apps in Europe.
