The growing firm replaces its manual independence processes with a centralized platform built to support its Top 30 ambitions

Intapp (NASDAQ: INTA), the governed AI platform for professional firms in highly regulated industries, today announced that Mauldin & Jenkins has successfully gone live with Intapp Employee Compliance. The firm is replacing its manual, email-based independence program with Intapp’s automated, centralized platform designed to scale as the firm grows.

When growth outpaces the process

Mauldin & Jenkins is one of the fastest-growing accounting and advisory firms in the U.S., with more than 850 professionals, a growing public company audit practice, and a clear strategic ambition to join the Top 30.

The firm's independence program had worked well for years. The partners were conscientious, and the compliance team was careful. But it ran on emails, spreadsheets, and raw human effort — and that had a ceiling. As the firm grew, there were more relationships to screen, more holdings to monitor, more certifications to chase down, and more chances for something to fall through the cracks.

Andrew Glenn, Partner and Assurance Committee Member at Mauldin & Jenkins, knew that growing in the assurance space — particularly in the public company audit space — would require a more rigorous approach to independence management.

How the firm chose Intapp

Mauldin & Jenkins was introduced to Intapp by Johnson Global Advisory, a consulting firm comprised of former Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) inspectors who help accounting firms prepare for PCAOB inspections, remediate findings, and build QC infrastructure.

Following a structured evaluation process, Mauldin & Jenkins selected Intapp Employee Compliance to modernize its independence program. The solution gives the firm one centralized place to manage the full personal independence lifecycle, including financial interest monitoring, annual certifications, outside business activity tracking, and trade pre-clearance. It covers everything a growing midmarket accounting firm needs to cover itself from an independence perspective.

With Intapp Employee Compliance, the firm can:

  • Auto-monitor employee holdings against restricted entities and incoming engagements
  • Automate quarterly independence attestations and certifications across the entire professional staff
  • Surface potential independence issues proactively, before they become unmanaged impairments
  • Maintain auditable documentation that supports quality management requirements under both PCAOB QC 1000 and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) SQMS standards
  • Give partners and professionals a simpler, faster disclosure experience, so compliance efforts don’t compete with billable work

Mauldin & Jenkins set a clear go-live target tied to the QC 1000 December 2026 deadline. Intapp delivered under budget and with several months to spare. The firm expects to eliminate hundreds of hours of manual compliance work annually as the platform reaches full adoption.

Supporting quotes

Andrew Glenn, Partner and Assurance Committee Member, Mauldin & Jenkins
”We had the process of a 100-person firm, but we are over 850 people now with plans to expand aggressively. Intapp helped us to start thinking like the Top 30 firm we hope to become."

Christian Bennett, Independence Partner, Mauldin & Jenkins
“As the person responsible for our firm’s independence program, one of my greatest concerns was not knowing what we don’t know. Intapp Employee Compliance has significantly reduced that uncertainty. Its automated flagging of restricted entities — together with the ability to customize workflows so certain reporting matters can be automatically approved, denied, or moved to review — allows us to focus our review on the items that truly require attention. The platform gives us a centralized foundation to manage independence with the rigor our clients and regulators expect, while providing the scalability to support the firm we are working to become.”

Jey Purushotham, Practice Group Leader, Accounting and Consulting, Intapp
"Mauldin & Jenkins is exactly the kind of firm that stands to benefit most from Intapp Employee Compliance: It’s growing fast, taking on more public company audit work while still maintaining a large private client roster, and refusing to let manual processes set the ceiling on how far they can go. As accounting firms scale toward QC 1000 readiness, independence oversight must move from spreadsheets and emails to a system that meets this standard. We're glad to be part of how Mauldin & Jenkins is building toward its Top 30 ambitions."
