  • Investor demand of $92.5M for its SBIC-focused fund, $27.5M for its private equity secondary fund, and $16.5M for its senior credit opportunity.
  • Altera owners committed $40.0M across the three investments alongside investors.
  • As a firm, Altera has partnered with roughly 50 GPs and has exposure to 1,000+ lower market businesses, private loans, and properties.

Altera, an alternative asset manager that focuses on the lower market and invests across multiple asset classes, simultaneously held a closing on three unique investment strategies totaling $136.5M in capital commitments:

  • $92.5M flagship Small Business Investment Company (“SBIC”) strategy
  • $27.5M private equity secondary strategy
  • $16.5M senior credit strategy

The Funds were backed by a broad base of new and existing Limited Partners including single family offices, wealth managers, and entrepreneurs. The Altera ownership group made a substantial $40.0M commitment between the three investments alongside investors. Each Fund is already substantially invested in underlying holdings and provides investors with exposure to difficult-to-access private market ideas.

“We intentionally built Altera to be a flexible and aligned private investment firm that can invest in various asset classes, up and down the capital stack. As broader private markets continue to evolve and become more efficient, we believe our lower market focus and unique investment capabilities are an advantage,” said David Fershteyn, Altera’s Founder and Managing Partner.

“Since its founding, Altera has seen thousands of private deals, partnered with nearly 900 investors, and executed over 50 different investments. In an ever-changing world, we continue to double down on niche, and sometimes complex, opportunities with structural benefits. A perfect representation of our investment program is our thesis around SBICs.” said Carlos Alcala, Altera’s Chief Financial Officer.
