-- Rebecca Spencer has built her distinguished career of over 40 years as a Broadway, National and International actress, recording artist and concert vocalist. In this chapter of her life, she has come full circle to return to Las Vegas, becoming a part of the rich Las Vegas musical heritage and growing theatrical community, and continues to inspire audiences through performance, education, and mentorship while contributing to the cultural fabric of Las Vegas. Embraced by both audiences and her fellow artists in Las Vegas, she is amongst Southern Nevada’s most respected artistic voices.
Rebecca's relationship with Las Vegas began long before making the city her home four years ago. She created the role of Madame Giry in Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular, under the direction of Hal Prince and Gillian Lynne, released her solo album Fair Warning during a special benefit performance for the Rainbow Theater Company, co-hosted the Liberace Piano Competition, and premiered both Rebecca Spencer in Concert and Waitin' with longtime musical director Philip Fortenberry, her collaborator of more than 40 years.
For three consecutive years, she has been invited to serve as both a panel judge and song interpretation coach for Nevada's participants in the prestigious National High School Musical Theatre Awards (The Jimmy Awards) sponsored by The Smith Center for the Performing Arts. Her acclaimed concert, The Bergman Project, debuted to sold-out audiences at The Stirling Club. She has become a familiar presence throughout the Las Vegas entertainment community with guest appearances on Kelly Clinton's show, Keith Thompson's Piano Party, The Dennis Bono Show, The Vegas Voice New Year's Eve Celebration and the Fifth Sunday and Spotlight Cabaret Series. Longtime Las Vegas headliner Tony Arias invited her to debut a Valentine’s Day concert aboard Princess Cruises with acclaimed Las Vegas jazz pianist, Joey Singer. In December the Vegas City Opera Christmas Concert Series will reunite Rebecca with her Phantom Las Vegas castmate Joan Sobel.
A passionate advocate for new musical theater, Spencer is also a longtime featured guest artist with The Composers Showcase of Las Vegas, regularly appearing at Myron's at The Smith Center. In April 2026, she performed an original composition by Keith Thompson celebrating the organization's 20th Anniversary Concert in Reynolds Hall. In addition, Rebecca was featured in Mr. Thompson’s original and fully staged concert of God Lives in Glass at The Smith Center. She will repeat her role when the composition makes its Carnegie Hall debut in 2027.
These recent accomplishments build upon an extraordinary career that includes the critically acclaimed Hollywood Bowl production of Into the Woods, starring as Carlotta in Das Phantom Der Oper in the first Hamburg Company, and launching the 20th Anniversary World Tour of Phantom of the Opera as Madame Giry. As an early collaborator, she created the role of Lisa Carew in the world premiere of Jekyll and Hyde and opened the original Broadway Company.
She was the Executive Producer for her debut solo album, Wide Awake and Dreaming, which earned the Backstage Bistro Award for Outstanding Recording. Her subsequent solo recordings—Fair Warning and Still Still Still—are available on major streaming platforms, distributed on the LML label. She has also recorded for Atlantic Records, BMG, Ghostlight Records, Varese Sarabande, and Garagista Records. Among her numerous concert credits are five seasons with the Encores! Series in NYC and as Guest Soloist with Marvin Hamlisch.
