The New Single “Dangerous” by Rock Veteran Rod Black and Black Lysted Drops August 21 on Cranked Up Records; Distributed by Virgin Music Group.

Rod Black is no stranger to the rock trenches. As the former frontman of Jet Black Stare, he scored a major radio hit with “Ready to Roll,” which peaked at No. 26 on the Billboard Active Rock chart. The track became the official theme for WWE’s SummerSlam 2008, appeared in EA Sports’ NASCAR 2009, and has amassed tens of millions of streams while remaining a stadium staple years later. Jet Black Stare’s Island/Def Jam debut In This Life established Black as a commanding vocalist and songwriter with a gift for big choruses and raw emotion.
The band shared stages with major acts including 3 Doors Down, Staind, Shinedown, Hinder, and Theory of a Deadman. He later returned to his country roots, notching a Top 25 Canadian Country hit with “Keepin’ On” and scoring additional success including a lengthy No. 1 run on SiriusXM Canada.
But numbers only tell part of the story. Black’s life was forever altered by a near-death experience at 19, when he flatlined and was pronounced dead before miraculously returning. A severe car accident shortly afterward further reinforced a profound sense of purpose.
Those experiences forged a deep spiritual foundation and an unshakable belief that we are here to love, learn, and lift each other up. He has long spoken of living as a vessel; driven by something greater than himself, and has become a vocal advocate for men’s mental health, dedicating music and proceeds to causes that break stigma and offer hope.
That same fire powers Black Lysted. The band delivers high-octane, emotionally charged rock that refuses to pull punches. Their previous singles “Redline” and “Words Are Like Weapons” already showed the group’s edge and conviction. Now, under the Cranked Up Records banner, they are poised to take the next leap.
