DETROIT, MICHIGAN - November 14, 2025 (NEWMEDIAWIRE) - Paul Warley, CEO of Ascent Solar Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: ASTI), was recently a guest on Benzinga’s All Access.
Ascent Solar Technologies is a maker of featherweight, flexible and durable CIGS thin-film photovoltaic (PV) solutions. The company’s PV modules have been deployed on space missions, multiple airborne vehicles, agrivoltaic installations, in industrial and commercial construction and in consumer goods, helping revolutionize the use cases and environments for solar power.
The company recently announced that it delivered test samples to two customers, one working on lasers for space and the other on autonomous underwater vehicles. The unnamed space laser company will test Ascent’s PVs’ space-based power beaming receiving capabilities, while the ocean monitoring company will test Ascent’s technology’s functionality and durability in aquatic terrestrial applications. “We should be seeing a reasonable amount of orders in late 2026 and 2027,” Warley told Benzinga during the interview, noting the tests will take a month or two.
Looking out to the future of solar in space and ocean applications, Warley said he expects solar to play an important role in powering satellites in space, largely because they cause less space debris and take up a smaller footprint. In oceanic applications, the CEO said not only the Navy but the Marines and the Army should be interested in using solar in the ocean. As for how fast the market will grow in both areas, that still remains to be seen.
